The Atlantis offers Meal Plans for your dining convenience.

There are four dining categories -- Express, Buffet, Relaxed, and Fine.

This review is based on a family of four -- two kids and two adults.  Like many of you, we studied the plans prior to setting foot on Paradise Island. At the time, you had to commit to the plan one week before arriving. Now it is required that you book a plan at least three days prior to arrival.

The Atlantis has three dining plans -- Casual, Gourmet, and Cove Gourmet.  The last one is available to Cove and Reef guests only. After careful study we decided to pass on the meal plan. This decision worked out best for us. We found that the restaruants that were part of the dining plan in the relaxed and buffet category were very crowded at dinner time.

There was always a long wait for a table in those restaurants that were part of the plan. Sometimes the wait was 45 minutes to an hour. This might be okay if you are not with kids since you can go to their bar or a nearby lounge to pass the time. Kids are not the most patient group.

A good example of where not going with the meal plan paid off is at dinner time we went to one of the restaurants and the place was packed and the wait was "at least 45 minutes." The restaurant across the hall had similar food and the wait was only 5 minutes.  The restaurant with the short wait was not on the dining plan.

This scenario of long waits for restaurants on the dining plan seemed to play out nightly. If you are one that doesn't mind eating early (around 5), then you might not run into this problem and the dining plan might work well for you. continued page 2

What to Expect  Dining Reviews To Meal Plan or Not to Meal Plan

A few tips to enjoy the water experience at the Atlantis:

I strongly recommend wearing aqua socks, sandals, or some type of water sandals. I tore up my feet on some sand in the pool and water rides. This oversight and subsequent sore feet made it difficult for me to get around during my stay.

I would get sunglass lanyards to hold the glasses.  The velocity of some of these rides could cause you to lose your sunglasses.  This happened to me and the person right behind me on a ride and fortunately one of the employees found mine about 20 minutes later. They made me take my sunglasses off on slides as you will see in some of the videos.
