If you participate in the plan, you are committing to dine in those restarants that are part of the plan. You won't get a credit if you decide to eat off the resort or at another restaurant that is not on the plan. A wonderful feature of the revised dining plans is kids 6 and under eat free when dining with their parents that purchased dining plans. They must select from the children's menu when the restaurant offers it. Unfortunately they did not have this when we stayed there. Children ages 7-11 pay a 50% discount to the adult dining plan price. Anyone 12 and over is billed at the adult rate. Children must participate in the same dining plan as their parents. There were times when we were not all that hungry for a full Dinner since we had a big and/or late Lunch. The mid-day meal is not on the meal plan. On those days, we wound up grabbing a quick bite at one of the Express restaurants -- none of which are on the plan. The Gourmet Plans give you a $55.00 dining credit at Cafe Martinique instead of the standard choice of appetizer, soup or salad; one Entree; one dessert; and coffee or tea at the a la carte restaurants on the plan. Cafe Martinique is a wonderful restaurant and many a brave soul has proposed to his enchanted there. The difference between the Casual and Gourmet plan is you have more dining options at both Breakfast and Dinner. Currently the Gourmet Plan costs 50% more than the Casual Dining Plan. What to Expect • Dining Reviews • To Meal Plan or Not to Meal Plan
A few tips to enjoy the water experience at the Atlantis: I strongly recommend wearing aqua socks, sandals, or some type of water sandals. I tore up my feet on some sand in the pool and water rides. This oversight and subsequent sore feet made it difficult for me to get around during my stay. I would get sunglass lanyards to hold the glasses. The velocity of some of these rides could cause you to lose your sunglasses. This happened to me and the person right behind me on a ride and fortunately one of the employees found mine about 20 minutes later.
