Those that said the food was not that good were reviewing the buffets and not the fine dining establishments.  I don't know about you, but buffets aren't usually on the radar for great dining experiences. With that said, I thought the buffets were good though when I wanted to put the feed bag on.

People mentioned the 15% gratuity as something they did not care for.  I suspect these must have been first timers to the Bahamas. This is a mandatory fee and they have charged this on all my visits to the Bahamas.  I have been going to the island nation since the early 90s.

I must say though, they properly calculate the tip at The Atlantis which means they are not determining it with the tax.  Back home I always tip at least 15% so I figured I was coming out ahead on this part of the visit.

I found the staff at The Atlantis to be more than worthy of the automatic tip of 15%. The staff is very diligent and timely with requests. My guess is it has something to do with the quality of people it hires. I do recall the staff as a whole at the hotels on Cable Beach in the Bahamas to be below the level of The Atlantis' staff.

On trips to Cable Beach in the Bahamas, you could count on being hounded for services like hair braiding. You needed to be firm and repeat No several times until they got the message or found a new target for their services. Those offering like services at The Atlantis were very polite and masters of the soft sale.  They were not pushy at all. You had to approach them.

Helpful Hint: If you are looking for souvenir items and want to save, then walk off the resort to the stores located a few minutes away at Paradise Island Ferry Terminal.  The easiest way to get there is make your way to Johnny Rockets and towards the water away from The Atlantis, go out this compound area, and there is a shopping area that sells souvenirs at very reasonable prices.

Most of our videos of the slides and rides are mostly from a first person view so you can feel what it is like to be on a ride at the Atlantis, Paradise Island.  This is much better than someone taking a video of someone else experiencing the ride.  Come with us as we plunge 60 feet in the near vertical drop in the famous Leap of Faith water slide found at the Mayan Temple. This ride has an equal for sudden drops, the Power Tower's The Surge located close by.  The Aquaventure is something to experience. The weather for the week we spent there was picture perfect.  We included pictures of the Atlantis experience in a slideshow format. A few tips to enjoy the water experience at the Atlantis:  

I strongly recommend wearing aqua socks, sandals, or some type of water sandals. I tore up my feet on some sand in the pool and water rides. This oversight and subsequent sore feet made it difficult for me to get around during my stay.

I would get sunglass lanyards to hold the glasses.  The velocity of some of these rides could cause you to lose your sunglasses.  This happened to me and the person right behind me on a ride and fortunately one of the employees found mine about 20 minutes later. They made me take my sunglasses off on slides as you will see in some of the videos.
