Saints Super Bowl Ring and Lombardi Trophy pics
Pics of the Saints Super Bowl Ring and Lombardi Trophy in slideshow format with a description of both pieces following the slideshow presentation.
The Lombardi Trophy is made of sterling silver and is created by Tiffany's. As you can see from the trophy, the words Vince Lombardi Trophy are below the front part of the base. The NFL shield is immediately below that, followed by the Super Bowl number, in this case XLIV (always a Roman Numeral), the words AFC vs NFC, followed by the Super Bowl logo for that year, then two lines have the winning team's name and score in a larger font than the Super Bowl runners up and the last line has the date of the big game.
As you can see from the third to last picture, there is nothing written on the other sides of the base of the Lombardi Trophy.
The 14 karat yellow gold piece of jewelry weighs just over 2 ounces with diamonds throughout with the fleur de lis logo on the face braced by World Champions. On one side there's the score, the Super Bowl XLIV logo, 02.07.10 engraved, the location and the NFL shield. On the other side is the player's name, number and position as well as a city skyline design, featuring the Superdome, a Carnival float, and a line of music notes from "When the Saints Go Marching In."
The Super Bowl ring was presented to Saints players and personnel at the Roosevelt Hotel in downtown New Orleans in June.
The Saints also raffled an official Saints Super Bowl ring to raise money for Gulf Coast Oil Spill Relief. The raffle took place in September and was won by neurologist Christopher Lynn. The raffle raised $500,000.00 for the relief fund.
