In what many billed as Lombardi Gras or Dat Tuesday, the Superbowl Champion New Orleans Saints held a victory parade in downtown New Orleans.
The parade was held one week before Mardi Gras and thus the Lombardi moniker. Some of the parading carnival krewes loaned the Saints organization their parade floats to use for the victory celebration.
Hundreds of thousands of fans braved the cold weather to see the parade where carnival beads, footballs, and jerseys were thrown to the crowds. The black and gold fleur de lis beads (pictured below) were the must have beads and a distant second were the gold beads with football helmets on them.
The parade was led by an old time fire truck and the Budweiser Clydesdales. The first float featured Saints owner Tom Benson, his wife, and Executive Vice President Rita Benson Leblanc (pictured below).
