Game of Century Possible Rematch (more LSU videos & Pictures)
Before the game of the century, there was talk that there should be a rematch of LSU and Alabama in the BCS game in New Orleans - January 9, 2012.
The latest BCS standings released November 6, 2011 have:
1. LSU
2. Oklahoma State
3. Alabama
4. Stanford
5. Boise State
The consensus is that if Stanford beats Oregon this Saturday, then Stanford will move ahead of Alabama next week.to the number three spot in the BCS standings.
The top four teams all have difficult games ahead with:
LSU has Western Kentucky and two SEC games remaining and one of them is against Arkansas which is number 8. If they win out, they would have to play either South Carolina or Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. If LSU wins that one then the Tigers stamp their ticket to New Orleans.
Oklahoma State has to go on the road to play Texas Tech and Iowa State before their rivalry game against the Oklahoma Sooners. If they win out then they would be in the BCS title game.
Alabama would need help to move past Stanford, presuming the Cardinal beat the Ducks next week, and Oklahoma State which still has a strong Oklahoma at the end of their season. The Crimson Tide have to go on the road for their final two SEC games against Mississippi State and their in state rival Auburn.
Stanford has the toughest part of the schedule ahead of it, but the luxury of playing those games at home. After Oregon, they play the Cal and Notre Dame. If they win those three, they play in the Pac-12 title game against Arizona State.
Boise State needs a lot of help to reach the BCS title game, but they clearly have the easiest schedule ahead of it and behind it for that matter. The Broncos face TCU this Saturday at home, then on the road to San Diego State, and at home for the last two games against Wyoming and New Mexico.
After the game of the century, Les Miles said he would be honored to play Alabama in the BCS title game.
There are still a lot of good games left and the BCS standings will certainly look different on December 4, 2011.
