before hanging a left when you can so that the spa cabanas are on your left as pictured below.
Keep heading straight to the rocks. Apparently there is the temptation to head to the rocks next to the spa cabana pictured above. I saw several resort guests doing this, but you can't climb the rocks at this point. Just keep heading straight so that this is the view you see in front of you as pictured below.
Your 215th step should lead you to this view of a stone marked X in the picture below, that is roughly hexagonal and reminds me of the old Chrysler logo shape. You will
want to head up the rock on your left marked 1 or you can go up next to the stone with the X on it.
I did see other resort guests that tried to go to the right and around the X stone closer to the Pacific waters, but this will get you only so far before you have to turn back to this point. Another person staying in the villa next door mentioned that it looked easier to just go in the Pacific and swim to the other side from this point. This is not the case. It is forbidden to swim in the Pacific because of the strong currents and if you were brazen, read dumb, enough to try, the waves would most likely slam your body against the jagged rocks.
When you get up on the first rock labeled 1 the hike is pretty much straightforward from there. You climb up the V shape ahead. It is an intuitive climb and nothing too challenging.
I found an odd placement for a cross and hoped it wasn't an ominous sign on my journey over the rocks to Divorce Beach. I imagine you too will also happen upon this cross on
your way. It has DEP sprawled on the cross which is the spanish equivalent for RIP (rest in peace) which is descanse en paz. I don't know if there is a tragic story here, a tribute to a dear friend, or someone's idea of a joke. The picture below shows a closer shot of the cross which is partially obscured due to the rust, but I can read the first name PATRICIA and see a portion of the year of birth and death.
Moving on, you are almost at the high point and once there pictured below will be your
view that lies ahead to head down to Divorce Beach. Hidden by the shadows in this shot was a second ominous sign which was of a local sleeping off what I imagined was several (mucho) cervezas. At first I thought he was dead because he didn't seem to be moving and I figured who would come all the way over here to sleep off a drunken feast when you can do the same thing at Lover's Beach. Divorce Beach does offer a lot more privacy especially this section that is a hike less traveled. (Continued on page 3)

A few tips to enjoy the water experience at the Atlantis:
I strongly recommend wearing aqua socks, sandals, or some type of water sandals. I tore up my feet on some sand in the pool and water rides. This oversight and subsequent sore feet made it difficult for me to get around during my stay.
I would get sunglass lanyards to hold the glasses. The velocity of some of these rides could cause you to lose your sunglasses. This happened to me and the person right behind me on a ride and fortunately one of the employees found mine about 20 minutes later. They made me take my sunglasses off on slides as you will see in some of the videos.
